Embark on the adventure of a lifetime with our 9-day Rongai Route expedition up Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. The Rongai Route is the only approach from the northern side of the mountain, offering a more remote and less-traveled path to the summit.
This carefully crafted itinerary provides excellent acclimatization opportunities while showcasing the stunning wilderness of Kilimanjaro's northern slopes. With its gradual ascent profile and breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak, the Rongai Route offers a unique perspective of the mountain and maximizes your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) at TBA, you will be warmly welcomed by your Patriot Tours guide. After a short meet-and-greet, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha for a chance to relax and recover from your journey. In the evening, your guide will conduct a pre-trekking briefing, where you will go over the Rongai Route itinerary, safety measures, and altitude acclimatization tips, as well as complete a final gear check to ensure you're fully prepared for the climb.
After breakfast, you will drive to Rongai Gate, passing through beautiful rural landscapes and villages. Once at the gate, registration is completed, and the trek begins through lush rainforest. This section of the trail offers a high chance of spotting Colobus monkeys and other wildlife. The day ends at Simba Camp, where you will settle in and enjoy your first night on the mountain.
